What happens at a community drum circle?
When you arrive, you'll find a circle of drums and percussion instruments set up and ready to play. Jason guides the group through rhythms that build on each other - starting simple, layering complexity, and always returning to the pulse that holds everyone together.
There's no performance. There's no audience. Everyone plays. Everyone contributes. And by the end of the session, something remarkable happens: a group of individuals becomes, for a moment, one rhythmic community.
People leave feeling lighter, more connected, and genuinely surprised by what they were capable of. First-timers are always welcome, and many become regulars.
Who comes to the drum circle?
The short answer: everyone. Our community drum circles in Baltimore draw:
Neighbors looking for a fun, meaningful way to spend a Sunday afternoon
People dealing with stress, anxiety, or isolation who find relief in rhythm
Parents and kids exploring music together
Seniors staying active and socially connected
Curious first-timers who just want to try something new
Seasoned musicians looking for a joyful, no-pressure jam
If you've ever felt the urge to hit on something and make it sound good, this is your place to hit things that don’t hit back, in-time, with a supportive group of humans.
